CEF Board and Committee Leadership
Child Evangelism Fellowship is an international, Bible-centered, faith ministry whose purpose is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and to establish them in the Word of God and in the local church for Christian living. This is accomplished by having offices in nearly every country of the world. In each country there is a National Office along with regional or state offices and local offices as necessary.
Each national or state office has a Board of Trustees, which is responsible for the ministry of CEF in that particular country or state (USA). The Board of Trustees for each area is responsible for ensuring the office and workers operate in a legal manner for their particular area.
Each local chapter has a Local Committee as its governing body. The local committee is a fellowship of Christians who have the responsibility and privilege of reaching the children in its own geographic area.
It is the role of the Board or Committee to provide leadership to the chapter which includes:
- Promoting the vision
- Organization
- Encouragement
- Planning
- Budgeting
- Evaluating the ministry
Meet our Committee
Chairperson: Judy Williams
My name is Judy Williams. I have been active in CEF for about 10 years. I became chair in 2006. Our committee has forged a strong team that relies daily on God opening doors to the opportunities to reach our county for Christ. I am married and have two grown children. My husband, Bob Williams, local attorney, has been a Good News Club leader for 12 years. I am a former computer programmer/systems analyst and I have a bookkeeping business. Reaching children for Christ is my passion in life. I praise God for allowing me to participate in His work!
converted) and America. We have two daughters, Berenice and Columba, both of whom have teen children. I am pleased with the recent growth of CEF, and look forward to more schools hosting Good News Clubs with local church participation and support.
Secretary of the Board: Stephanie "Stevie" Ashurst
Board Member: Dave Anderson
My name is Dave Anderson and I am a recently retired elementary school teacher (2010), having worked 35 years in the Pacific Grove Unified School District at Robert Down School. I have been married to my lovely redheaded wife Margie for 41 years who is also active in CEF helping to support my teaching and organizing the CEF office. I teach two Good News Clubs, one at Washington Union Elementary on Tuesdays and another at Spreckels Elementary on Thursdays. My dream for Monterey County CEF is to have a Good News Club in every elementary school in Monterey County.
As retired public school teachers, we were excited that we could share the gospel after school in a classroom environment. We also like that the children have many opportunities to be engaged in learning about Jesus and what He has done for us. At the three clubs Don attends, he is in charge of games and sharing the mission story. Sandi enjoys being responsible for name tags and prizes for the larger club. She enjoys teaching the lesson at the smaller club of K through second grade.
Board Members: Don and Sandi Gabbert
Board Member: Jim Nelson
My names is Pastor Jim Nelson. I joined the CEF board in 2009 when we were only in about 4 or 5 schools in the county. Our board has increased in number since then and we have worked very well as a board, with good leadership from our chairperson. We have tripled the number of schools we are in and with the Lord’s help we will add many more. We are a praying board who call on the name of the Lord for help in reaching children in Monterey County and for raising funds. I lead the committee for our annual CEF Walk-a-thon, which is held at Lover’s Point Park in Pacific Grove, every second Saturday in April. Come join us on April 13th, 2013 and have a great time raising funds to support our work in reaching children for Christ.
Bio coming soon...

Meet our staff
Missionary Area Coordinator: Pam Brooks
My name is Pam Brooks and I have been serving this local CEF chapter since 2004 and became a full time missionary with CEF in 2006. Previously I worked as a preschool teacher for 17 years in Pacific Grove.
I felt a calling from the Lord to start serving in Children's ministry in my church in 1993. I love teaching children about the Lord Jesus and helping other teachers to do the same. I believe children are our future and guiding them to Lord is so very important for our whole nation's future. I presently teach two Good News Clubs, Monte Vista in Monterey and Kammann in Salinas.
My name is Liz Ferris and I am the newest staff addition to the Monterey Chapter. I was practically born in the church, and since a very young age knew I was called to ministry. In what seems like the blink of an eye, the Lord called me to full time ministry, making me an extremely blessed person who works for the best boss in the world - the One and Only: God! Along with being a missionary, I am also married to my wonderful husband Andy Ferris and we are currently Pastoring a church in Soledad, CA. I have a heart for ministry and am so excited for all God has in store for us as a chapter.
