My name is Liz Ferris and I am the newest staff for CEF of Monterey!
I am originally from the Bay Area, born in San Francisco and raised in Richmond. Since day one God had marked my life with a special plan. I grew up knowing I was created to be exactly what my name means (Elizabeth = consecrated unto, separated for God). Although I knew this, I did not know what exact plan God had in mind and so, in my mind I had it made that I was going to be either a Vet or a Film maker. After high school I went straight to San Francisco State, but after a couple of years, and after much prayer, I took a leap of faith and decided to fly 3000 miles away from home, away from my comfort, and away from my own plans and dreams to the State of Virginia where I attended Liberty University. There I received my Bachelors degree in Communications in 2007 and my Masters degree in Human Services for Organization and Leadership in 2009. Although I longed for a career along side of ministry, God had a different plan, which was that He had separated me for full time ministry. As soon as I realized this, I began actively working in my church and never looked back. In January of 2012, I was married to Andrew Ferris who realized that same year he was called to full time ministry as well and so the day after we got married we moved to Washington state where we were Youth Pastors of an amazing group of young people. Although we felt set with the wonderful ministry we had in Washington, the Lord continued to lay out His plan and in September of 2011, we moved out to Soledad, CA to become Senior Pastors of Templo El Buen Samaritano (Church of the Good Samaritan). Unsure of what future the Lord had in store for me, He sent two amazing, fellow missionaries, Art and June Amison, to my life who saw in me something they had been praying for along with the other members of the Monterey Chapter. With a growing need, and only a few workers at hand, Monterey Chapter had been looking for someone who had a heart for ministry and a heart for children that could culturally relate to the growing population of Hispanic children. As we all know, God never does anything without reason! Just a few months after I moved into the area, and after a lot of prayer, a unanimous vote was taken to accept me as the newest missionary in our chapter!
From March until today, it has been an upward spiral as the Lord continues to open door after door for our chapter’s ministry to expand in South County and Salinas!
I am excited for what the Lord has in store for this ministry, and am honored to be a part of what God is doing to change Monterey County around for His glory!
Serving Him, through serving Others!
